The Ancon Reserved Zone was created with the purpose of conserving the biological, cultural and landscape diversity of the marine-coastal ecosystems. In this report the people in charge of the conservation of the reserved zone and the leader of the fishermen association talk about the history and the present of the area, showing not only the beauty of the place but also the challenges that the community is facing because of the Repsol oil spill in 2022.

In an effort to address the national political crisis and strengthen Peruvian democracy, IDEA Internacional launched the Perú Conversa project in July 2023. To date, the project has created and consolidated dialogue spaces in 17 regions across the country. In this case, IDEA hosted a workshop for journalists focused on a challenging subject: democracy.

Since 2023, the Faculty of Performing Arts at PUCP has enlisted me to photograph many of the works directed or produced by its faculty and students. Many of these productions artistically address latent social issues, prompting reflection on our societal roles and ethics. I have been tasked with capturing both performances and promotional photos. To date, I have documented over 30 stage presentations managed by PUCP. This is a compilation of those photographs.
Some directors I have worked with are Mirella Carbone, Pamela Santana, Josué Castañeda, Pachi Valle Riestra, Cori Cruz and more.

With interviews with numerous historians and various experts in the field, primarily American, the film presents a new shared history spanning over 300 years through the visual splendor of the architectural, pictorial, sculptural, and musical heritage of the era, which remains relevant to this day.

Women-Led Ecological Cooperative of Coffee Producers

CEMCAVIR is the Alliance of Women Coffee Producers of Villa Rica. The organization works with the goal of producing coffee in harmony with nature, supporting the improvement of working families' quality of life.
The documentary is currently under postproduction and is expected to be released by the end of 2024.
The End of the World
Docudrama on the Landslide of 1970 in Yungay

Location: Yungay province in Ancash, Peru.
Film about History, Living Memory and Identity.
The film delves into the aftermath of the Yungay landslide, a tragic event that struck Peru on May 31, 1970, when a massive rock and ice avalanche destroyed the town and claimed approximately 20,000 lives. The story centers on a young boy who survived the disaster but lost his friends in the catastrophe. Guided by the ghosts of his deceased friends, the now-adult survivor petitions the local government to document and tell his story. Through this narrative, the film poignantly addresses the personal and collective impact of the disaster, emphasizing the significance of preserving memory and honoring the victims' stories.
The film is currently under postproduction and will be released in 2025.

Results Presentation: Building Evidence to Reduce the Demand for Wildlife Products in Peru

At the beginning of July, the results of the project "Building Evidence to Reduce the Demand for Wildlife Products in Peru" were presented in the cities of Iquitos and Lima. The project has generated the necessary evidence to inform decision-making processes that address specific strategies for reducing the illegal wildlife trade. These results were made possible thanks to the participation of vendors from the Belén market, wildlife product consumers, the private sector, and the local government.

Eco-Innovation Leveraging Local Products from the Cordillera Escalera Regional Conservation Area

In the upper Amazon region of Peru, the Bosque Guardián association operates in the Tiraco River valley, consistently reclaiming land from cattle incursions, logging, and other human destruction. The organization reforests these areas with native species while protecting the primary forest, promoting economic and social alternatives. This approach discourages poaching and logging, and fosters environmental education, scientific research, and artistic activities, enhancing understanding of this part of the Amazon.

A citizen initiative promoted by Conservamos por Naturaleza, a project sustained by Peruvian Society of Environmental Law (SPDA) and FENTA. Its objective is to preserve the marine-coastal spaces of Peru through an innovative protection tool for sports practice: the Wave Breaking Law.

Yanachaga Chemillén National Park: Pleistocene refuge

Yanachaga Chemillén National Park (PNYCH) is considered a 'Pleistocene refuge,' meaning a place that shelters forest relics due to geographical isolation during a relatively recent period in geological history. During this time, most areas now covered by Amazonian forests were occupied by herbaceous ecosystems due to severe climatic changes. The Pleistocene refuge theory explains why some Amazonian forests exhibit extremely high biological diversity.
